Conditions: Hip

Every hip condition presents a unique set of challenges and requires a comprehensive plan of care.  A person suffering from Osteoarthritis, also called degenerative arthritis, might experience pain in the hip, inner thigh, buttocks and knees.  Osteoarthritis is a gradual breakdown of cartilage in the joints and is commonly found in the hip because the hip bears the weight of the body.  Treatment options vary depending upon the severity of the arthritis and if one with the condition is obese.  It is important to see one of our Bonita Springs or Fort Myers hip doctors, so they can efficiently treat one who may be suffering from this condition.

Other common hip conditions are Femoral and Hip Fractures.  A Femoral Fracture is a break in the thigh bone, called the femur and is the largest and strongest bone in the body.  The most common cause of a fracture is direct trauma to the leg from an automobile accident or a fall.  Treatment can include surgery, anti-inflammatory medications and physical therapy.  A fracture of the Hip is a serious injury that most commonly affects the elderly most often caused by a traumatic injury such as a fall.  Treatment involves surgery or total hip replacement.
