As companies fully embrace emerging communications technology, corporate IT professionals face mounting challenges to train end users. 4What interactive, in conjunction with wireless headset giant Plantronics, has just solved this problem in a way that lowers workloads and cost at the same time. The solution is called UC Toolkit, a new app recently released for Apple’s iPad.
“We were looking for a certain type of partner to help us develop the UC Toolkit iPad App” Said Andrew Taylor, Senior Director, Plantronics Services Marketing, “We wanted a partner that understood our IT audience and could bring some creative flare and interesting ideas to the table. 4What listened to our desires and presented us with a concept that was not only user friendly but with a vision for our users to customize the iPad App for their specific UC office deployment.”
What makes this app unique is that 4What reused pre-existing web materials they had previously produced to
drastically lower app development costs for Plantronics. The free app works in conjunction with traditional web-based support to provide a one-stop resource for training and trouble shooting. In addition to resolving their own technical issues, IT personnel use UC Toolkit to refer end-users to helpful videos, podcasts, and printed information, so that users become aware of the various capabilities of their Blue Tooth or Dect headset hardware and software. And since the app is available on iPads and iPhones, help and training reach a vast audience. Here’s a sneak peek.
“At 4What, we take a modular approach to training,” said Reid Atwood, 4What founding partner. “We develop training that support or can be converted to most platforms. In this case, we used the training assets we had already
created for Plantronics products and integrated them into an end-user training app for a much lower cost than starting from scratch.”
End-users enjoy instant access to specific solutions. And, IT departments are raving about how UC Toolkit encourages best practices among end-users while reducing the amount of time they spend solving employee problems. Read this blog by IT pro Sam Cavaliere.
“The first release of the UC Toolkit iPad App has been extremely well received,” continued Andrew Taylor. “We are now working with 4What to add functionality and enhanced customization elements that will allow IT professionals to be even more mobile and effective in supporting their UC audio device deployments. 4What has been a responsive and flexible partner to work with – we made the right choice in selecting them as our partner.”
